Volunteer Opportunities
Barn Cleaning (Ages 12+)
We need volunteers to help clean the barns at our sanctuary in Lindstrom, MN. Barn cleaning occurs every Saturday morning (start time varies by season). Cleaning typically lasts 2-3 hours. There is no regular commitment required for barn cleaning - you can come once or weekly!

Barn cleaners must be at least 12 years old; those between 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult and those between 16-18 must have a waiver signed by a parent on file. Farm Animal Care (Ages 18+)
We need volunteers to assist with caring for our residents during farm opening and closing at our sanctuary in Lindstrom, MN. Tasks include letting out or closing in the residents, feeding (feed & hay distribution), stall cleaning, refreshing residents’ water, and observing animal behavior/health for potential problems. Opening and closing tasks typically take 2-3 hours.

Farm Animal Care volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. You must be comfortable working with large farm animals (e.g., cows and pigs); prior farm animal experience is not required but is beneficial. Finally, Farm Animal Care volunteers must be reliable – the health and well-being of our residents depend on it!

Farm Animal Care volunteers must first complete an application here and participate in a brief phone interview. If selected to be an Animal Care Volunteer, you will be scheduled to attend Animal Care Training, and shadow a trained employee at least three times before being assigned your weekly shift. Commitment to a weekly shift for a minimum of 12 months is required (with the exception of reasonable time away for vacations & illness). Contact us at info@farmaste.org with any questions.
Event Volunteers (Ages 12+)
Events at the farm will have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities! Please keep an eye out on social media and our website for specifics about Event Volunteer opportunities. You can also e-mail us at info@farmaste.org to express your interest in being an Event Volunteer. Event Volunteers must be 12 or older. Those between 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult; those between 16-18 must have a waiver signed by a parent on file.
